Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to convert it to PDF/A?
No. The conversion runs in your browser tab, so contracts, records and filings never leave your device.
Which PDF/A should I pick?
PDF/A-2b unless you were told otherwise: most courts, tax portals and archives accept it. Pick 1b when a system asks for PDF/A-1, and 3b when the PDF must keep attachments, as e-invoices like ZUGFeRD and Factur-X do.
Is the result really valid PDF/A?
We check our output with veraPDF, the open validator archives use. Fonts the PDF only named are embedded, colours get an sRGB profile, the XMP metadata names the PDF/A part, and scripts, hidden annotations and other things the standard forbids are removed.
Will my text stay selectable?
Yes, almost always. Only a page that cannot be fixed any other way, such as one whose font is missing with no stand-in, or see-through drawing in PDF/A-1b, is redrawn as a picture with an invisible text layer, so it still looks the same and you can search and copy it. The result says which pages, if any.
Can I convert many PDFs at once, for free?
Yes. Add as many as you like. There is no daily limit, no file cap and no sign-up.
